Basher51's Bluff and Bluster

I've been reading pundit's reports about last night's presidential debate.  "Boring" was the erm that seemed to be used most often regarding the debate.  Excuse me, but isn't a boring debate what all of the reformers wanted?  All of those folks keep telling us that they want the candidates to "just talk about the issues" and "get rid of that gotcha stuff".  So, they got that in last night's debate and then they complain that the debate was boring.

Give me a break.

I think we would all agree that we just want to end this "war", stop throwing away money overseas, bring the brave troops home, stop borrowing from China, reduce crime and survive in this economy day-by-day.

It all starts with ME and......YOU!

Sometimes change must start from within the individual first.

The Collective will follow. All it takes is one of us to start the ball rolling.

I concurr with Kat and Bash, there is no connection between Obama and terrorists. However, it is a justifiable conclusion that he likely would be the candidate of choice by most Islamic Jihadists/terrorists.

The debate was it was for several reasons: First, the quality of the questions that Mr. Brokaw chose to have asked was (in my opinion) poor. Both candidates were able to go on auto-pilot from stump speeches too much.

Secondly, McCain seems afraid to actually aggressively go after Obama on issues that should be "slam dunks". Taxes: he needs to point out that by not supporting keeping the Bush tax cuts in the first place, taxes for everyone will go up for everyone. Secondly, he needs to point out that the folks who he wants to raise taxes on already pay 60% of all income tax paid. And lastly, he needs to point out that the USA has one of the highest corporate tax rates on the planet. Want more business to come here? Start with lowering their taxes.

On energy........he needs to go beyond nuclear and point out that Obama and the Dems are NOT in favor of drilling anywhere. That this "lifting" of offshore drilling is more ruse than reality. Point out that more drilling isn't taking place due to perpetual legal action by liberal groups such as the Environmental Defense fund and the Sierra Club and this Dem drill or "use it or lose it" is no more that political doubletalk.

Sorry to go on a bit of a rant.........but, I probably won't even bother with the last debate. With Bob Schieffer, I have little doubt that Obama will be pretty well protected.....

This might have been boring to older people BUT my daughters who are in the 20's listened and are discussing the things they hear with their friends and that is a good thing. And as I told both of them I'm still undecided. I have issues with both parties. So I would agree this debate might have been boring for people who are clear who they are voting for some people need more time to think and are still listening to what is being said.

I'm a middle-aged guy who is somewhat overweight and desperately trying to get into the shape that I was 25 years ago. I'm a retired firefighter (City of Waukesha) and I now work as an inspector for insurance companies. I love the work and since I'm an independent contractor I get to set my own schedule. I am also a track chaplain with Motor Racing Outreach Association and minister at Slinger Speedway. As for hobbies, I enjoy watching all types of stock car racing, and am devoted to fishing, travel, photographing Great Lakes ore carriers. I'm a member of the International Defensive Pistol Association and compete locally in action pistol competition.
