Basher51's Bluff and Bluster

by Basher51 from Sussex

Last Post 3 hours Ago

This is the great uniter at work.  Sounds like the "new kind of politician" and bipartisanship, and post-partisan politician is pretty much out the door.  Back to the same old name calling, negative campaigning, and hyper-partisan flapdoodle that we've all heard before.  So, lacking the new tone in Washington that was once his main point, what does he really have to offer?  His experience?

By the way, the federal budget is something way over 10,000 pages long, maybe even 30,000 pages.  I recall seeing a picture of it once.  It was about 25 volumes of hard cover with each one roughly 3 inches thick.  And he is trying to tell us that he is going to go through it "page by page, line by line"?  So, even with the great powers of The One, I figure that little project will take him aobut four years, so,  what else will he have accomplished?

He will unite us all, in a state of economic collapse reminiscent of the Carter years.

He will unite us all, in the belief that is the role of the government to solve all problems.

He will unite us all, in the belief that terrorist are our creation, and that by changing our behavior, we can change theirs.

He will unite us all, in believing that by our very example, other nations will be inclined to follow our lead in global issues.

He will unite us all, in adding to the Bill of Rights an Amendment which will say something to the effect of: Individuals have the right to be treated "fairly", economically and socially. With the definition and execution of "fairly" to be in the powers of the ONE.

Seems to me the "ONE" will unite us all, in a new country, the USSA.

Biden: "Lobbyists aren't bad people. Special interest groups are not bad people. But guess what? They're corrosive. People who accept money from them aren't bad people. But it's human nature. You go out Lynn and bundle $250,000 for me, all legal, and then you call me after I'm elected and say, 'Joe, I'd like to talk to you about something.' You didn't buy me, but it's human nature, you helped me. I'm going to say, 'Sure Lynn, come on in.' Just like by the way, if I turn around and I'm elected President of the United States of America and you call me and say, 'Joe, I want to come and see you', I'm going to see you. You helped me. You didn't raise me 250 bucks but you put your neck out for me. So they are not bad people. But what it does mean - it means that, the front of the line is always filled by people whose pockets are filled. People who are special interests." Obama for uniting alright. Uniting the country to special interest.

And he'll bring on a change in Washington, called Chicago Politics. you may have heard about it. The movie "The Untouchables" portrays that type of Politics.

Just a small point of contention there bash, experience SEEMS to be what's got us in this mess... and I think your friends in washington, along with their k-street lobbies and corporate cronies HAVE gone through the budget page by page to find all the ways to consolidate powers, eliminate oversight and paralyze government entities they can't seem to dispose of.... SO who better to clean house?

McInsane? who was at the center of the S&L crisis that led to the reforms that BushCo have now all but eliminated? Paulson—the ex-Nixon plumber's apprentice and head of Goldman Sachs?

There'll be a collapse alright, but if you can't see whats going on with BushCo in his final days ruining the nation... his "bailout" of Corporate America will bankrupt our children's future as well as ours. And the timebomb is in the debt he's making us buy, and the freedom he's giving to the crooks who got us here.

So, in the case of McCain—if he’s the president, we know what he’ll do, because we know he wants to privatize Social Security, which is something that Wall Street’s been wanting for a long time, another bubble.

We know he has said in the next—in the first 100 days of his administration he’ll look at every program and either reform it or shut it down. This is really a recipe for economic shock therapy. So, while you have all of these trivial issues being discussed in the election season, they’re going to invoke—the economic emergency, to push through very, very radical changes.

But there’s huge problems for Democrats, just think back to the situation in which Clinton took power, where he ran an election on an economic populist platform, promising to renegotiate NAFTA. Then there was an economic crisis. (S&L scandal ask McCain, he was in the middle of it) Clinton came under intense lobbying by people like Robert Rubin, (who’s also advising Obama right now) and by the time he took office, he had embraced economic austerity.

Si by no means are we out of the dark EVEN if "the One" takes office, we the people have to put pressure on him to fulfill his promises.

You think McCain and lipstick will listen to the people? Did Bush?

I'm just curious how The One is going to unite us when his campaign is all about demonizing his opponents and dividing us.

look bash if you only watch fox and am radio... you'll never know, because all THEY DO is demonize and divide. they wrote the book... and called it fair and balanced.

on the other hand, what is lipstick and InSane gonna do? go back to washington (and away from the debate) to "fix" the problems his administration has made?

meantime heres a good place to start

whats InSane got... privatize healthcare, eliminate corporate taxes, permanent tax cuts for the rich... and endless war, as long as it takes. Buy up all the bad debt at the ridiculous amount the crooks valued it at, employ them to help "fix" the problem —without any oversight and with complete immunity from prosecution in the future.... all with whats left of your retirement. great plan.

wake up dude, quit blowing smoke

Sounds like you've joined The One's bandwagon of spewing divisiveness and calling it uniting folks. At one time he talked about reaching across the aisle, about bringing the country together. Now we are seeing the truth: The One is all about deepening class warfare and class envy, making viscious personal attacks on those who oppose him, using race as dividing line. I suppose when you have no real ideas, you rely on those sorts of things so that people won't notice that you don't live up to any of the platitudes that you expouse.

And remember when I reminded you that Bush is not running for re-election? Yet, the Dems, especially The One, are falling into a very deep trap by running against him. That will come back to bite them big time after the debates. Trust me. They have waded right into the biggest political trap in US history.

I'll agree we've all walked straight into the biggest trap in history all right...

If the "one" truly is, and will be a "great uniter"............seems to me there is/was a real opportunity in Washington right now.

And what I have heard happened in Washington with Obama ripping into the house Repubs and their proposed plan......which he really didn't know all that much about in first place, and the meeting quickly descended into chaos.

Of course, the Dems are making the rounds now "blaming McCain"........

Even more amazing when Harry Reid has stated today that McCain was the last to speak at the meeting and did so only briefly.

Seems it had already been made a mess of by the "Messiah".

The Washington Prowler over on the AmSpec blog states that Obama was given a heads up on the Republican plan by staffers for Henry Paulson. If true, and the Prowler is usually spot-on with these things, then what The One did was truly horrendous. And he's going to unite this country? Sounds like typical chicago Machine politics.

Note by the way that Paulson is a Democrat.
