Basher51's Bluff and Bluster

by Basher51 from Sussex

Last Post 35 minutes Ago

I was out of town on business most of last week.  While driving in some fairly remote areas I had a chance to shut off the car stereo and do some thinking.  Something has been missing from this presidential campaign--the Hollywood lefties haven't been promising to leave the USA if a Republican is elected.

Typically this promise is one of the things that I look forward to the most during a presidential campaign.  If nothing else the promise of Streisand, Sarandon, Robbins, et al leaving the country has energized my hope for a Republican victory.  It is also one of the most delightfully comic displays of the the Hollywood left's massive egotism.  To think that someone could consider themselves so incredibly important that their threat to leave would cause someone else to vote differently is quintessentially Hollywood (a land where ego knows no bounds).  Tragically, none of these Hollywood types has ever followed through on their promise to leave.  I suspect that it is out of fear that no one would miss them, or perhaps no other country would have them.

So, come on Hollywood lefties, we just KNOW that you want to say it!  All of us on the right are eagerly looking forward to you pronouncement.  Please, please, please promise us that you'll leave if McCain is elected.  The election wouldn't be the same without it.

ifilus, let me explain how posts and comments work. I'll try to do my best to use terms that even you can understand. You see, a person writes down some thoughts on a subject. That is what we call a "post". Then other people write their thoughts regarding post. These are called "comments". A person who lacks the intellectual capacity to write their own posts and mindlessly posts anything they want in someone elses comment box are called "ifilus" which means "parasite".

I beg to differ.

The video clip clearly demonstrates "one of the most delightfully comic displays of the Hollywood" right's "massive egotism".

My question is:

Why do you care what an actor thinks so much that it angers you?

Maybe if society didn't care so much about what these overpaid thespians say all this would go away?

Seeing as you're Republican you shouldn't be so upset.
There has been a Republican President whom was an actor and a Republican Governor whom was/is an actor.
Doesn't the right appreciate what an actor has to say?

I think Arnie thinks the cameras are still rolling.

It doesn't anger me. In fact I find their fatuousness hilarious. I just wish that once, just once, one of those Hollywood nitwits would follow through on their threats.

Tonight Obama will be at a Hollywood fund raiser. $28,500 per plate. It is said that he will be raking in a record $9 million.

Are they nitwits if they are Republican?
Is it illegal to hold a fundraiser?

Well, Bash, hate to crash your party..........but there are at least 1/2 dozen hollywood actors supporting McCain.

And as far as your observation on his fundraising...........any wonder why he bailed on Federal dollars???

And this "terrible" economy.........must not be doing to bad out there now is it??

What does it have to do with the economy?

Let's stop with the name calling. Just think of who's mouth all of this stuff is coming from. Think about it! How can an actor/actress relate to the "average joe" in this country when they are making the same amount of money as politicians? Hey someone making 4 million dollars a year is not going to relate to middle America. Just like the government!

Think about it. $30,000 for one plate of dinner? Middle America doesn't even bring home that kind of money a year!!!!

Now, have dinner with a middle class family for a evening and now your talking! Sit down with a bunch of snotty nosed kids throwing dinner rolls at one another, not some high and mighty dinner party in Hollywood!

Yeah and someone like Linsay Lohan really makes an impact on government. She doesn't know her *** from a hole in the ground! Oprah, what a joke she is!

I'm pretty sure Palin understands making 30,000 a year work.

I was quite disappointed when George Clooney didn't leave. What a lie.

Maybe, we shouldn't trust what actors say?

But Chuck Norris knows the tax code!

And he served "TWO TOURS IN IRAQ"!

Yeah, the handful of Hollywood actors supporting McCain are nothing compared to the crowd of glitterati that forked over $28,500 each to have dinner with Obama and hear Babs sing(?). One thing that you won't hear is any of the Hollywood 6 supporting McCain saying that they will leave if he loses the election. I'm willing to bet a matchstick or two to saying that before the election some Hollywood bigmouth will say that he/she is leaving he country if Obama loses.

But...Stephen Baldwin already said he would leave if Obama won.
Isn't that good enough?
Not that anyone would notice if Mr. Baldwin left.
Jesse Ventura already left the country. He hates both parties and is living in Mexico.

I'm a middle-aged guy who is somewhat overweight and desperately trying to get into the shape that I was 25 years ago. I'm a retired firefighter (City of Waukesha) and I now work as an inspector for insurance companies. I love the work and since I'm an independent contractor I get to set my own schedule. I am also a track chaplain with Motor Racing Outreach Association and minister at Slinger Speedway. As for hobbies, I enjoy watching all types of stock car racing, and am devoted to fishing, travel, photographing Great Lakes ore carriers. I'm a member of the International Defensive Pistol Association and compete locally in action pistol competition.
