Deputy Tim Johnson will be speaking about the Wisconsin Move Over Law. Deputy Johnson as you will recall, was the Milwaukee Sheriffs Deputy that was struck by a car as he worked an accident scene on Milwaukee's highways. He has made a remarkable recovery, so if you are able, stop in and wish him well in his continued effort to get back to work. And thank him, and all of our law enforcement officers for the work they do.

If you don’t know who Deputy Johnson is, here are my past posts about him.

That's great! So I know where to go in order to complain about cops getting in the way of traffic. I drive the interstate every day and I hate seeing people pulled over for speeding violations. Do you know how many accidents almost occur due to the "move over" law? And how often traffic slows down. I know it's hard to avoid them pulling over for an accident scene, and I don't wish harm on anyone such as what happened to Deputy Tim Johnson.

Please, no one else respond to ^this^ troll. He only posts where he can stir up trouble, even though he will deny it to the death, that is exactly what he and a few others do.

I work with Deputy Tim Johnson's wife Erica and I know Tim. He is a great guy! He is indeed a very, very lucky man to be alive! Who else better than someone that lived through that horrid experience to speak about the "MOVE OVER LAW". I am very thankful for the great job the men and women of law enforcement are doing every day. They put their life on the line for US!

Ok A Jive,

I truly hope you do come. I'm sure there will be some Deputies and police officers that you can discuss your feelings with. These officer's that risk their lives everyday take an oath to protect the community and the people in it, even you A Jive. So if this law saves a few more of their lives but makes you alittle erked. Well so be it. Some day you might have to call 911, and you will be thankful that there is somebody on the other end. I would hate to think of the day that there would be nobody on the other end of that phone and we would have no one to come to our aide.

Tommorrow is a day to celebrate a deputies life. I hope the whole community comes out to see and speak with Tim and his family.

This family is doing this out of the kindness of their hearts, be grateful you live in this country.

Hi suzjas, It was hard and I had to bite my tongue regarding jive soul loser, but BadgerBlogger is correct, jive is a troll and we all know trolls hide under a bridge where they do their best trash talking. Consider the source, I think he has issues.

suzjas, I was unable to attend Monday. I am sorry I missed you there. I saw you on TV though! I spoke with Erica yesterday at work and asked how the turn out was and she said poor. She mentioned last week they were expecting about 500 or so including students from the police academy. I was surprised by the turn out.

Hi Antmarta,
Thanks for the post. Sorry I did not reply sooner, crawled in my hole and stayed there for awhile, also had to catch up on my classes. I was surprised by the lack of turnout to. Would have to think long and hard before I would do something like that again. Oh well, everything happens in its own time and place.

Even though Tim was thrilled the room was not packed and didn't have to speak in front of 350 people. He was a very nice young man and Sheriff Clarke should be happy to have officers like that on his force.

Green Bay did Tim's story. Maybe some more people became aware of the Move Over Law, if so, then it was effective.

Give Them Room: It's the Law

A Milwaukee County sheriff's deputy seriously injured during a traffic stop in January is trying to warn drivers about the dangers of not following the state's "Move Over" law.

Deputy Tim Johnson was issuing a ticket when he was hit by another driver. The 29-year-old deputy spent several weeks in a coma and doctors were not sure if he'd recover.

He did and is now telling his story to others, hoping they'll follow the state's Move Over law.

So what is the law and do drivers around here follow it? The law in Wisconsin says when you see an emergency vehicle stopped on the side of a four-lane road, you must move over to the left lane if there is room.

If you can't get over, or if it's only a two-lane road, you have to slow down.

But a Brown County Sheriff's Department sergeant we talked to says more often than not people
