A Ludacris Decision

Summerfest has announced that Gangsta Rap star Ludacris will be at Summerfest main stage this year. I guess Don Smiley thinks that it is acceptable to glorify the violence and drug culture by signing a man that had made millions of dollars denigrating women, cheering drugs, guns, violence and everything else that we are fighting against on our violent streets today.

The lyrics of Ludacris is one profanity after another. Women are constantly referred to as BLEEP, and his “BLEEP’s” are constantly targets of violence. Guns, drugs, violence, the N-word, robbery, murder, and more are consistent parts of his music.

And this is the sort of thing that Don Smiley and Summerfest thinks is appropriate at Milwaukee’s preeminent summer festival that brings people into this city from all over the country?

I know that I wouldn’t go to Summerfest when this concert is going on… I don’t think I want to go to Summerfest at all if they are going to embrace this sort of thug culture.

I stopped going to Summerfest years ago. The last time I was there it was not a very good experience. People were drunk and out of control! Way to crowded for me! Summerfest should be an enjoyable experience, but in my eye's it was not.

This July 1st the city better be prepared for a night of crime & violence (more then ususal) It's almost like they are asking for it by having this guy play here at our main stage! YIKES!

Summerfest (both under Bo Black and Don Smiley) only care about one thing. How much money they can make. I do not like Summerfest either-the last time I went it was so crowded that I was black and blue by the time I got home (and soaked from the beer people spilled on me).

I thought Summerfest was heading in the right direction lately with the acts they had on the mainstage. They were obviously appealing to an older audience and focused more on people staying longer and spending more money, instead of just seeing how many bodies they could pass through the turnstiles. I was shocked when I saw this announcement. It is a total 180. Now I have another reason not to go to Summerfest.

Summerfest is a blast. I love it. It's a great spot to just hang out and listen to some bands. I've met a lot of chicken heads there. Ludacris will be good to have because there will be some fly girls there to pick up.

i don't go to summerfest to crowed, to expensive, and all they care about is how much money they bring in or head counts. summerfest use to be fun back in the 70's you could listen to music all day and nite for just the cost of getting in
now it is just about money..

Thank you Summerfest. Hopefully it will bring enough of the thugs together, and they will wipe out a few more of themselves.

I wouldn't go to Summerfest if they closed the place off and let me be the only one in there.

Ugh! Great, everybody don your bullet proof vest because your gonna need it. With all the entertainment they could get why the heck this low life crap? They are truly asking for trouble and the PD and security is going to have their hands full!

Jive- apparently in seeing you around the board here, you "seem" to be a PROUD black man. There's nothing wrong with that. But as a PROUD white woman, I see your views on things like gun control and this scum playing at Summerfest confusing. While most of YOUR people are killin' each other off in mass numbers, you are in denial. Perhaps you should consdider this: to better things for your people, they need to unify and look out for each other. Just like all other groups of people. I look out for mine out of PRIDE and PURITY. Look at the crime rate during the days of segergation. Better than today, correct? We all need to have ome pride in our heritage and history. Those whom don't learn it are doomed to repeat it. This scum's concert is a joke. He segrades women, promotes drug use and is all around an arse, yet you "like" him? What has this guy ever done to be proud of? If all these white kids are attending this show, they aren't really white. They want to be black, let them. They won't be accepted by either in the end. End note: it's NOT a race thing, it's a cultural thing.

I think that Jive is just commenting to get attention and putting up comments to get comments back.

That being said-back to the original topic. Summerfest is trying to make money. That is all they care about. Packing as many bands in a small place as possible to make as much money as they can and to heck with the crowds. They would book a band out of Waupun if they thought they could make money off of it.

Centauri65, I agree with you. Jive seems to do this in most of his posts, just to get a reaction.

It is too bad Summerfest had to book someone like Ludacris. I saw on the news that they had an agreement with him that he will perform a G or PG concert. I don't think thats going to do much good. I still think his concert will draw an unruly and possibly violent crowd.

I have come to the conclusion the jive is just a whiner. I have seen it on several blogs and he gets really rude when people don't agree with him. Therefore, he creates the problems himself. There is no need to name call like he does day in and day out on here.

Milwaukee is one of the most violent cities in the U.S. Great idea to bring Ludacris!! I actually like some of Ludacris's music but this concert will bring out every thug in the city. Good Luck MPD....you will need it.
