Elvis Duran and the Q102 Morning Show

Coming to Q102 July 23rd at 6 A.M.

This show is broadcasted out of the Z100 studios in New York City.  It currently broadcasts to Z100 in New York City, Y100 in Miami, and Max 106.3 in Blairstown, NJ.  Q102 in Philly will soon be added to this list.

Check out Elvis Duran and the Q102 Morning Show on the web at the following link:  http://elvisinphilly.elvisduran.com/pages/meettheshow/

You can also check out the official Elvis Duran website at the following link:  http://www.elvisduran.com

I am really looking forward to Q102 finally getting a new morning show from 6 - 10 A.M.  I've been getting bored in the morning with no humor to entertain me on my morning bike ride.

I will actually be away on vacation in Upstate New York on July 23rd when this show makes it debut on Q102, but I will be sure to listen as soon as I get back.

I wonder if I will get the opportunity to go on this show and do the weather like I did with The Booker Show...LOL.

I was born 17 years ago today, March 13th, 1991...3:17 P.M. to be exact.  I go to get my driver's license later this morning at 9 A.M.  Wish me luck !

The weather on this date over the past 17 years has been ever-changing.  Let's take a look at the conditions from each year, starting with 1991.

March 13th Normals & Records for Philly:
Normal High: 50°
Normal Low: 34°
Record High: 84° (1990)
Record Low: 8° (1888)

March 13th, 1991 - High: 41°, Clouds Increase, Light Snow Late
March 13th, 1992 - High: 37°, Mostly Sunny
March 13th, 1993 - High: 37°, Fog, Snow, Sleet, Rain, Hail, Thunderstorm, G 66 m.p.h. (Snow Depth: 11 inches)
March 13th, 1994 - High: 57°, Mostly Cloudy
March 13th, 1995 - High: 71°, A.M. Fog, Drizzle, P.M. Bright Sun
March 13th, 1996 - High: 59°, Unknown

March 13th, 1998 - High: 37°, Hazy Sun & Clouds
March 13th, 1999 - High: 48°, Mostly Sunny
March 13th, 2000 - High: --°, Unknown
March 13th, 2001 - High: 53°, Fog, Drizzle, Light Rain
March 13th, 2002 - High: 46°, Light Rain
March 13th, 2003 - High: 57°, Clouds Increase, Light Rain Late
March 13th, 2004 - High: 46°, Partly Cloudy
March 13th, 2005 - High: 47°, Hazy Sun
March 13th, 2006 - High: 79°, Hazy Sun & Clouds
March 13th, 2007 - High: 68°, Hazy Sun & Clouds, Bright Sun Late

David Aldrich's forecast for today:
March 13th, 2008 - High: 53°, Partly Cloudy

I think I remember that blizzard from 1993...I was only turning 2 years old, but I vaguely remember it.

It looks like a nice day is in store for today, but not as nice as the past 2 years.  I was spoiled with warmth the past 2 years, 79 degrees and 68 degrees, as you can see above.  Too bad I wasn't born in 1990...that's when the record high of 84 degrees took place.

Well, I'm off to enjoy my birthday, and hopefully get my driver's license.  Even though it's going to be a nice day today, I'll probably do more driving than bike riding...LOL.

Feel free to leave comments below :-)

The clocks will "Spring Forward" this weekend. Saturday night / Sunday morning, 2 A.M. becomes 3 A.M.

I say "Spring Forward" because in the Spring the clocks go Forward...in the Fall the clocks go Back, so they "Fall Back".

Make sure that you say Daylight SAVING Time, NOT Savings...there is no "s" at the end of it. If you think about it, it makes better sense without the "s" because we are saving daylight, not savings it.

Friday morning will be the last morning to wake up in daylight for most people...at least for now.

Friday's Sunrise: 6:24 AM
Friday's Sunset: 6:00 PM

Monday's Sunrise: 7:19 AM
Monday's Sunset: 7:03 PM

The days are getting about 2 minutes longer each day (about 1 minute in the morning, about 1 minute in the evening), so it will take about a month, until April 10th, for the sunrise to be back to 6:30 AM.

Personally, I like the earlier DST (March instead of April) better because it's dark when I wake up at 5 A.M. anyway...I don't care if the sunrise is at 7:19 AM instead of 6:19 AM. It's much better with the daylight in the evening !

Well, I don't know about the rest of you, but I've come down with a case of Spring Fever.  I've enjoyed this warmth that we had on Monday and Tuesday, and I wish it would continue even longer !  I took 4 bike rides on Monday, and another 4 on Tuesday...I wouldn't be surprised if I lost 5 pounds in those 2 days.  LOL.  I must mention that my bike rides are usually close to an hour long, which comes out to about 5.5 miles at my pace.  That's about 44 miles on a bike in 2 days !

Here is a recap of the warm temperatures up and down the East Coast from Monday and Tuesday, March 3rd and 4th.  I kept close track of this warmth, as I'm sure you could imagine.

Philly - Monday 64, Tuesday 68
N.E. Philly - Monday 67 R, Tuesday 72 R

Allentown - Monday 63, Tuesday 54
Reading - Monday 63, Tuesday 59
Lancaster - Monday 63, Tuesday 62
Pottstown - Monday 64, Tuesday 64
Mount Pocono - Monday 50, Tuesday 47

Trenton - Monday 63, Tuesday 67
Mount Holly - Monday 64, Tuesday 68
Wrightstown - Monday 63 R, Tuesday 69 R
Atlantic City - Monday 56, Tuesday 63
Millville - Monday 59, Tuesday 65
Wildwood / Cape May - Monday 55, Tuesday 63

Wilmington - Monday 65, Tuesday 69
Dover - Monday 65, Tuesday 72
Georgetown - Monday 65, Tuesday 73

Baltimore (BWI) - Monday 68, Tuesday 71
New York City (LGA) - Monday 52, Tuesday 62

Richmond, VA - Monday 72, Tuesday 76
Raleigh, NC - Monday 74, Tuesday 74

Huntington, WV - Monday 74, Tuesday 66
Charleston, WV - Monday 75, Tuesday 69

Now here's what I find interesting, but I have never lived in Western New York, so maybe it's typical for them up there...I don't know, LOL.  Check out the warm temperatures on Monday, compared to the cold temperatures on Tuesday associated with a Winter Storm.

Rochester, NY - Monday 65 R, Tuesday 43 (12 A.M.)
Syracuse, NY - Monday 59, Tuesday 52 (12 A.M.)
Buffalo, NY - Monday 63, Tuesday 36 (12 A.M.)
Ithaca, NY - Monday 54, Tuesday 48 (12 A.M.)
Binghamton, NY - Monday 55, Tuesday 51 (12 A.M.)

That's something you don't see everyday in the Philly area.  LOL.

By the way, Tuesday, March 4th, tied Wednesday, February 6th, for the warmest day of 2008 so far in Philly, with a high temperature at the airport of 68 degrees both days.

In case you didn't know, I went on Q102 this morning to forecast the weather on the Booker Show, from 6 - 10 A.M.

I'd have to say it was one of the best experiences of my life so far.  I had so much fun with it...I've always wanted to be on the radio, more than I've wanted to be on T.V.

The funny thing is that even the Q102 DJ's get sick of hearing the music that Q102 plays, because they play the same songs over and over again.  As soon as a song would come on, Booker and Blaire would take off their headsets immediately.

Bottom line is that I am so glad I got to experience going on the radio at a young age, 16 years old.  It is definitely something that I would do again and again, if I had the opportunity to.

P.S.  Sorry, Doug, about Blaire making fun of you when you called in...she was sitting right next to me, and she really was clueless about you when she heard your voice.  Thanks for calling in though, man !  You should try and get yourself on some radio station now...I had a blast with it, and it was a great experience !

I will be doing the weather live on Q102 Monday morning, from their studios in Philadelphia. I will be sitting across from Booker, and between Diego and Blaire. They will be checking in with me throughout the morning for me to do the forecast.

Be sure to listen 6 - 10 A.M. Monday morning on 102.1 FM or Q102.com !

I put together a weather website for my school, Sterling High School, located in Somerdale, NJ.  I used nothing but HTML code to create the website, and I'm not an HTML expert, so the website is very basic, but it gets the point across, which is all I'm trying to do.

The website basically converts David's T.V. forecast into a web version, so in case you didn't catch it on T.V. you can always check out my website.  I generally update it every weekday morning a little after 5:30 A.M.  I also update it on Saturday and Sunday nights between 9 P.M. and 10 P.M.

Also, as of now, my first T.V. weather broadcast for my school is set to be recorded next Thursday, and it will air on the lunchtime announcements on Friday for the weekend forecast.  It'll be good practice for the career I plan to pursue in the future, of course.  I'm looking forward to it.  I'll keep everyone updated on my progress as the time approaches.

Here is the link to my weather website:

Add it to your favorites !  LOL.

Hey guys !  I am writing because I need suggestions about what topics my U.S. History teacher can use when he does a lesson on the history of weather.  I am pretty close with my U.S. History teacher, and both of us love weather, so him and I are trying to put together a lesson on the history of weather.  He even said that he might let me teach the lesson a little bit if I can get a good grasp of some of the weather history topics that we will be discussing.

What are some interesting things that I can research about the history of weather, and would be good to teach to a U.S. History class ?  I'm not asking anyone to do research for me; I just need some interesting topics for me research about the history of weather.  I will do the research on my own once I get some good topics to research on.  My U.S. History teacher will probably do a little research as well.

Sometime throughout the semester this lesson will be taught, so sometime between now and the end of January.

David Aldrich, Rob Guarino, Jim Nichols...feel free to leave comments here.

Of course anyone else can leave comments as well :-)

I will be leaving for vacation on Monday afternoon around 1:30 PM or so.  We will drive to Altoona, PA, spend the night there, and visit my Great Uncle on Tuesday morning, who lives in that area.  What kind of weather should I expect on the drive out to Altoona, PA, on Monday afternoon, and what kind of weather should I expect in Altoona, PA, Monday afternoon through Tuesday morning ?

Around noon or so on Tuesday afternoon, we will be leaving from Altoona, PA to drive to Keslers Cross Lanes, WV.   The closest National Weather Service station to that town is in Beckley, WV.  What kind of weather should I expect on the drive from Altoona, PA, to Keslers Cross Lanes, WV, on Tuesday afternoon, and what kind of weather should I expect in Keslers Cross Lanes, WV, from Tuesday afternoon through Saturday morning ?

On Saturday morning, we will be leaving Keslers Cross Lanes, WV, to drive to Luray Caverns in Luray, VA.  We will be spending the day and night in Luray, VA, and driving home on Sunday.  What kind of weather should I expect on the drive from Keslers Cross Lanes, WV, to Luray, VA, on Saturday morning / afternoon, and what kind of weather should I expect in Luray, VA, Saturday afternoon through Sunday morning ?  Also, what kind of weather should I expect on the drive home from Luray, VA, back home to the Philly area on Sunday ?  What will the weather be like when I return home next Sunday ?

In case you missed David's very good info on Good Day around 8:05 AM this morning, here it is once again. Thanks David for the great info!

------------------------------------------

Today's Forecast: 98°

Record High for August 8th: 100° in 2001

Last 100° Day: August 9, 2001

Some places could hit 100 degrees today! But don't be fooled by today's forecast of 98 degrees...by this I mean that it will feel MUCH hotter with the humidity, with a heat index between 105 and 110 degrees!

Last year, we hit 98 degrees 5 times, but we did not hit 100!

Tomorrow morning my family and I leave for vacation. We're driving up to Connecticut tomorrow to spend the day and night at my dad's friend's vacation house right on the beach. Then on Monday morning we leave to go to Martha's Vineyard, MA until next Saturday morning when we drive back. How is the weather looking for tomorrow in Connecticut and Monday through Friday in Martha's Vineyard? I don't trust The Weather Underground's forecasts.

Hello, my name is Brian, but all my friends call me B Don. I am 17 years old, and I am a Junior at Sterling High School. I live in Stratford, NJ, which is in Camden County, about 20 minutes from Philly. I love weather, bike riding, and sports. I want to be a T.V. Meteorologist. I did the weather on The Booker Show on Philly's Q102 on Presidents' Day morning, Monday, February 18th, 2008, from 6 - 10 A.M.
