It wasnt that long ago when everyone from  little girls to mayor candidates were taking on the elements and standing outside tech stores to be the first to get their hands on the new apple iPhone.

Fast forward half a year and the owners of these new  smart phones are facing a multitude of dilemmas.  People who bought the phone early on witnessed a price cut a few weeks ago and were outraged by it.

Now, apple is under fire from customers who have "hacked" the phone to allow other mobile services to be used on the phone. (Apparently AT&T is the only "legal one"

Customers who have claimed they didnt tamper with the tech say they have also experienced problems like deleted contacts after apple's newest software update.

Seems to me those who bit into the state of the art phone were in for a nasty worm inside their apple. Hopefully people here havent gotten screwed over by Job's yet.

Anyways, anyone here having trouble? Maybe fox could do a story on it if the problem is more than skin deep.

What they mean by hacking the phone, is that they remove the cover and delicately install a hair fine wire from a memory chip to another chip inside the phone. This backdoor opens the phone up to other providers and you are not locked into ATT. So....Apple puts out a new software upgrade that most likely looks for this wire and shuts it down.

Seems like a mess? It is. I NEVER buy anything new to market. Let them work out the bugs. Either way, I feel that if you are smart enough to open backdoors in cell phones, you should be able to use it that way. Afterall, it is YOUR phone that you purchased.

Pretty much. Its like buying a TV and only being able to use it with comcast on certain channels-If you are going to buy a piece of technology, you should be free to do whatever you like with it.

The mad rush to be among the first!!! Always cracks me up..

I've also heard that the "full touch screen" technology has not been "perfected" yet.

How about the monthly phone book thick bill? What the heck is that all about? If I want to read 200 pages, I'll go the bookstore and buy a paperback novel.
