How could it happen?  An 11 year old boy and his 15 year old sister...reportedly tortured by their parents.  Imagine, locked in a bedroom, bound with pantyhose and thrown on the floor for six hours or more a day.  And there's more.  The kids never went to school and actually thought their lives were normal.  How sad is that?  The parents face life in prison if convicted on the torture charge.  What shall become of the kids?  Stories as these turn your stomach, even for veteran police officers.  Here's the real scary part...had it not been for an alert neighbor who contacted authorities...the alleged abuse could've continued...and it's already alleged to have taken place six years or longer.

wow, that's crazy. what a sad thing to hear. why would parents do such a thing? if they didnt want kids then they should have given them up for adoption. parents like that should have the book thrown at them.

This is only one of the many cases yu hear about. Some are even worse. The cases that are discovered are so hideous and it makes you wonder how anyone could do this to their children. Then you have to wonder what is wrong with a mind that would find pleasure in inflicting pain on any living creaure. What happened along the way that turns these people into such monsters that have no compassion or empathy. Now the even scarier part, how many cases go on forever with entire families of children that are too petrified to step forward and say anything to anyone, teachers the police anyone. Yet if you or I as parents have an unruly child that is acting out in a store all we can do is say "this behavior is unacceptable" or "you need a time out" or you will have some helpful citizen calling child services to report you if you give your child one swat on the behind. Or how we were raised a slap on the hand with the words "no dont touch". suddenly you will have police called on you for touching your child.
While some kids are being beaten, thrown into the walls, on to the floor, branded with cigarettes or spatulas, and starved and neglected, where are those helpful citizens ten?

That's the reason that the state of Texas is still going after the FLDS. While they like to put a good face on bigamy, it's a type of welfare fraud where secondary wives are logged in as single moms to collect welfare. And they have developments in Canada and Mexico to shuttle underage girls. And that doesn't even address the abandonment of teen boys. Yet the MSM continues to treat them with kid gloves and blame the state for intervening. Sick.

The OC's my beat for FOX 11 News. But you can catch me covering just about any story, any place, any time. Have news, will travel! I've been doing that here at Fox 11 for 15 years, traveling coast to coast and south of the border. You never know what you might do or where you might end up and your assignment could change from one minute to the next. To me, that's what being a reporter is all about. And it's pretty cool working in an area where I was born and raised. Yep, I'm a native Angeleno and proud of it!! In case you're wondering, Naipo is Hawaiian, the short version of the 21-letter ancestral name, Naipoikamanaihookaahi....
Good luck on the pronunciation.
