8th grade graduations can be fairly boring, unless the commencement speaker is your uncle who happened to be the immediate past President of the United States!  Such was the case at Riviera Hall Lutheran School in Torrance Thursday.  Bill Clinton spoke to the class, including his nephew, Tyler, son of Roger Clinton, the prez's brother. If you were driving in the area, you may have noticed several squad cars outside the school, no parking signs and a security detail befitting of a...well..U.S. President.  Yet, it was pretty low profile, mainly because it was a private affair, tickets only and no media allowed inside.  One thing's for sure, it'll be a commencement these soon to be high schoolers will never forget.

I agree with Selma. Getting former Bill Clinton to shut up seems to be more of a challenge than getting him to speak. He will speak anywhere there are free eats and nubile young women.

At least these graduates have a story to tell their future children when their children graduate Jr. High.

OMGosh, really Selma, Moogie? - it's 8th grade.

1. Only a few people could grow up to be the King of Great Britain and I'm sure he wasn't be talking to impressionable you.
2. Do you remember being 12 or 13? Very few (if any) 12 or 13 yrs olds are thinking as skeptically as a seasoned voter.

Give them a break. Let them have one day out of their life. The real world will come upon them before long (hopefully they'll be able to let go of the past and think about what to do [not do] better in their future).

The OC's my beat for FOX 11 News. But you can catch me covering just about any story, any place, any time. Have news, will travel! I've been doing that here at Fox 11 for 15 years, traveling coast to coast and south of the border. You never know what you might do or where you might end up and your assignment could change from one minute to the next. To me, that's what being a reporter is all about. And it's pretty cool working in an area where I was born and raised. Yep, I'm a native Angeleno and proud of it!! In case you're wondering, Naipo is Hawaiian, the short version of the 21-letter ancestral name, Naipoikamanaihookaahi....
Good luck on the pronunciation.
