Now that Fave has decided to come back for another year, Thompson needs to man up and give the Hall of Famer some major help. Randy Moss would be that deep threat the Packers lost when Jevon Walker was traded in last season's draft. But much more talented. When even a marginal QB throws to him (Brooks doesn't count), he's good for at least 15 TD's.  Why doesn't everyone want him in Green Bay?

With Favre at the twilight of his career, Thompson needs to take a chance and get him a playmaker. With Moss as a deep threat and Driver willing to go up the middle and take the punishment, the offense which was abismal last year, would be a pts machine. Sure Moss can have a bad attitude and has a history of doggin' it on run blocking and running routes. But when he is happy, he will do those things. He needs to be kept in the game and getting him will keep Favre in the game of football.

As Charlie Daniels sang "the devil went down to Georgia - he was looking for a soul to steal". Do you really want Ted to sell the Green and Gold "soul" and get involved with Randy Moss? Winning is fine, but at what cost? I'm a Bears fan and they lost the big one, but you know what - the world didn't come to a screeching halt. I'm not sure winning with jerks beats losing with ok guys - maybe that's one reason I didn't mind seeing the Colts win - they seem to be a good bunch. Take your Randy Moss's and Koren Robinson's of the world if you want them - at least they won't be infecting other teams. P.S. - If you need a DT, maybe Tank is available - wouldn't mind seeing him go.

I wouldn't want the Packers getting Moss either if I were a Bear fan. Get real, with your good citizen arguement. If the Bears had implemented that your policy they never would've won in '85 - That team was full of jerks.

And your statement of "I'm not sure winning with jerks beats losing with ok guys", is not a very competative attitude. What Ricky Manning did was far worse than anything Moss ever did. So Moss smokes some pot (admits to it, but hasn't been suspended for it) and hates to run block, so does every other receiver in the NFL. Quit kidding yourself, but I'm glad you're a Bear fan.

My, my, aren't we testy. Let's just pretend it's draft day. Here's a wide receiver with talent but has character issues, uses illegal drugs, admits to taking plays off if he isn't featured, and generally isn't one of the nicest guys on the team. Would Ted Thompson draft him in the second or third round? My guess is probably not. Why, then, would he pursue that type of player who isn't young by NFL standards and has maintained most, if not all, of the endearing qualities he had as a young man? Ted has one wide receiver just starting a jail sentence - let him deal with one problem at a time. By the way, you're right about some of the '85 Bears but not all of them were jerks (Payton, Singletary, VanHorn, Covert, and more were and have continued to be good citizens). McMahon probably fit the description, but GB took him and he got a SB ring with them (he also wore a Bears jersey to the White House ceremony honoring the Pack). Just goes to show you that a jerk is a jerk - doesn't matter what team he's on. Let's try to remember these are a bunch of guys with a ton of money playing a kids game - nothing more.

Character is important to a point. But there also comes a time when a team needs some edge to them. Any GM would draft a guy like Moss in the 1st Rd. You would love to have Moss on the Bears.

I guess we just differ on the character issue. More players in professional sports smoke pot than don't. Pot's illegal, but look at how often alcohol is abused. -Koren Robinson. Pot probably keeps Moss out of trouble.

Everything you blogged aboutis true. The packers need key playerson offense to help Favre out. We need to sign Moss.
