Rather than setting up Oil wells just off of our coast for all to see when visiting our beautiful beachs for the false promise of cheaper oil prices in about ten years, why can't we have an emergency resetting of the Speed Limits on all of our roads? Too simple huh?
Set the Interstates to 55 MPH and reduce all regular roads by 5 MPH and inforce it! Just until those prices become more reasonable or we replace our gas guzzlers with other energy sources such as Hydrogen and Electric vehicles. The reduction in cost to all of us would be staggering and this would be very cheap to implement! Many drivers are already slowing down now. We've probably still got those 55mph signs collecting dust in government storage right now so we wouldn't even have to print up new signs!
I'm doing this and have been carefully measuring my fuel consumption and have increased my gas mileage by a few miles per gallon. I have not been able to slow down quite as much as I've suggested here because the traffic is flowing faster than that now and I'd cause a disruption on the roads. I've just been trying to stick to the outside lanes and setting my cruise on the speed limit. It really is working!
I only take a very few minutes more (5 minutes more to get from Valrico to Largo) to get to my destination and feel much less stressed because I'm not fighting the traffic.
The oil wells sound like a bait and switch to me. And we are not talking about drilling way out in the Gulf where we won't see these ugly monstrosities, they would be just off shore in some cases as they are now in Corpus Christi Texas. Let's seriously think about that before we knee jerk a bigger mess than we have now.
What a shame about the LazyDazs family problems airing on the headlines of todays news. Bumping out Iraq and gas prices on some stations. Isn't that the same guy who divorced his wife to marry his niece (no DNA connection, from his wife's side of the family)? Then went on to build the largest house on Bayshore Blvd right next door to his now Ex-wife? Who in her emotional state decided not be be outdone and expanded the square footage of her house to compete with the new house occupied by her now Ex-husband, air to the LazyDazs biz and his new wife (formerly his neice by marraige). If I'm wrong I do apologize, but if I'm right what now, the sister didn't have enough money so she, her hubby and daughter cooked up a scheme?
If that's the same bunch, then it just goes to show that having a big pile of money doesn't make folks any classier really, now does it?
