Harry Potter's latest and possibly the last book is being released this Saturday.

Kids, (I know mine) just can't wait to get their noses into the book and I am too pleased to see them keep out of mischief and out of my hair for a full day.

The Zealous separatists (Hewbrew Perushim) want to ban the release of this book because its released on their Sabbath.

They threaten to sue the stores who sell the Harry Potter Book if the stores sell it on a Saturday.

So much for Separation of Church and State when an Alien Religious group can dictate to the Nation where and when we trade and on what day.

The Jewish community will NOT be satisfied until they  CONTROL our EVERY MOVEMENT.

When will they understand this Nations was founded on CHRISTIANITY.

NOT JUDO-CHRISTIAN as many of their followers would like us to believe.

CHRISTIANITY  - - - - - - - - - >   read your history.

We tolerate all religions. That's is the meaning of freedom of religion.

That does not mean they can force their Archaic Tribal Followings upon a Free Nation.

These separatist believe that the seed of a man can enter a woman in a chlorinated Swim Pool or the Salt of the Sea side.

Men and Women cannot mix on the beach while on vacation, nor can their kids.  Separatism at its madness.

Thats what they would impose upon us if we do not make a stand.

They are going to tag me as Anti-Semitic - Well, I've got news for them. The Arabs are more Semitic than the Jews - I researched and found that Monster dictator Hitler invented the phrase and they proudly carry it on.

So much for someone we all hated to continue his legacy.

Not that I don't appreiciate a good rant, but I believe evangelical christians have been vocal critics of the Harry Potter series as well.

Right 'O' but I can't see the E.C's go to the length of law suits to try and stop an innocent children's book sale on a Sunday.

I did expect it to open Pandora's Box and hold the record of comments in the history of myFox26 Houston !!

Does anyone know what the record is to date??

Asnapper, have you read the books or are you just going by hearsay?

What about Narnia? Or The Wizard of Oz? Thats all I can think of without caffine in me, but don't they have witchcraft in them too?

It just shocking how these religious groups jump all over Harry but forget about the little things in life they do that are against their beliefs.

The Harry Potter books glorify witchcraft. The hero namesake of the books is a young wizard, the son of a murdered wizard and witch. His adoptive parents, who are not witches, are depicted as foolish and cruel; but he escapes to attend the Hogwarts wizard’s school, where he learns to cast spells, use chants and crystal balls, ride broomsticks, turn himself into an animal, and perform other occultic rituals. Textbooks at the wizard school have titles like "The Standard Book of Spells." The directors of the school are ghosts who died gruesome deaths. One is named Near Headless Nick; he was killed by being struck 45 times in the neck with a blunt axe. There is a "Sorcerers Stone" that has the power to give immortality. The world of witchcraft is depicted as exciting and desirable. Witches are intelligent and caring; whereas non-witches called Muggles in the books, are dull and uncaring. Harry Potter and his wizard friend’s lie, steal, break rules, disobey authority figures, and take revenge. Harry Potter also makes and uses drug potions, including the psychedelic drug thujone, which has been banned in the United States since 1915. The wizards practice Hindu-type meditation "to clear the Inner Eye." There is swearing and violence. A three-headed dog mangles the leg of a professor; a mysterious figure drinks blood from a unicorn carcass; children are attacked and paralyzed; a dead cat is hung upside down by its tail. There are creatures called Dementors that "suck out peoples souls." There are ghosts who haunt bathroom toilets. In the second volume, a monster speaks to Harry thr

continue...through the walls of a castle, saying, "Come . . . come to me. . . . Let me rip you. . . . Let me tear you. . . . Let me kill you." When Harry kills the monster, its eyes are punctured and "a sudden shower of dark blood spattered the floor." The fourth volume contains a torture scene and two deaths. The final battle scene "is bloody and frightening. Voldemorts servant must exhume the bones of the Dark lords father, draw Harrys blood, and sacrifice his own hand in order to restore Voldemorts body." In the Harry Potter books, death is described as "going to bed after a very, very long day" and merely "the next great adventure

You don't need to tell me what the books are about, I own every single one of them and all the movies.

You still haven't answered my question? How is this different from Narnia, written by a Christian, that has a witch, talking lion (not real) and the witch hates these children for whatever reason?

Occultism is not a game; it is very real and it is rebellion against Almighty God. To fill the minds of children with such things is a great evil. Like Star Wars, the Harry Potter books promote the unscriptural myth that there is both good and evil wizardry. The Bible mentions wizards 11 times, and in every case it is a strong warning. Consider some examples:

Regard not them that have familiar spirits, neither seek after wizards, to be defiled by them: I am the LORD your God (Lev. 19:31)
And the soul that turneth after such as have familiar spirits, and after wizards, to go a whoring after them, I will even set my face against that soul, and will cut him off from among his people (Lev. 20:6).
And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them (Ephesians 5:11).

And my kids, along with alot of other kids, know this book is FICTION. They know if they try any of these spells nothing is going to happen.

Narnia At best, any biblical doctrine that is presented in Lewis’s Narnia is vague and distorted and overlaid with heathen mythology. The defenders of Lewis’s fiction argue that the Bible uses parables to present truth, but Lewis’s fiction is filled with unscriptural things that one will never find in a biblical parable. Christ’s parables did not contain a mixture of truth and paganism.

I didn't approve of the Passion of Christ either..

It’s amazing how those who are completely against Harry Potter and what it’s about but yet know all the things that go on in the movies and the books. If you’re totally against it than why are the books being read and the movies being watched? Nothing against you directly Asnapper, because there are those that are like you that are completely against it, which is a personal choice and I love the fact that you are that passionate about serving God and respect you totally for not being ashamed of that and proud of it. But I don’t understand how someone could be completely against it but yet know what it’s all about?
That’s like an Atheist talking about how much they are against religion and God but yet watched the movie about Jesus being born over and over again and saying how wonderful the movie was and how much they cried at the end. ?????
Let’s keep the movie in perspective here and remember its fake what happens in the movie can’t really happen in real life.
Just like the Dawn of the Dead. Its fake it can’t happen. Kids know this, and so should the adults. You’re not promoting witchcraft watching the movie. It’s not like the money you spend on the book or the movie is going to go toward schooling for kids to learn witchcraft. It’s to make the actors richer, so they can buy cars, do drugs, get arrested and spend 23 days in jail and get out early on good behavior, but you do that when you buy movies at Wal-Mart. I could understand the seriousness of it if the movie was about real documentation of events that actually took place (real TV). But its not,

But its not, you’re not telling God. Oh now I have watched Harry Potter I am a witch and I am going to practice dark magic. Not happening, it’s a movie that’s it. But personally if people are completely against it, don’t watch it, don’t read it. DONE. I am against some things that I won’t even fathom about considering supporting it.

Sorry, folks... Harry Potter is a fantasy and basically harmless. I appreciate the quoting of scriptures from the Holy Bible, try the 4th chapter of James, paying particular attention to James 4:12, or you can read the Heart Sutra of Buddhist teachings and have pretty much the same picture.
The Christ went to the poor and the down trodden. The religious authorities were absolutely aghast when he ate with tax collectors and prostitutes. Through all of this, he taught not to judge. He stated that he came not to call the righteous, but the sinners to repentance and that his followers should cast the ebam out of their own eye in order to see clearly to cast the speck out of the eye of their neighbor.

As to "the Jews" doing this or that; it's pretty much the same argument when one states that all Blacks, Whites, Illegal Aliens or whoever are collectively guilty.
It's not only wrong; it's abhorrent.

I hate it when people use their religion or whatever to condemn a fairy tale. It makes the rest of us Christians look like idiots.
Like Robin said, HP is just like the Narnia books, and also, I may add, similiar to the Star Wars series as well as the LOTR series by JR Tolkien.
Tolkien, Lewis, both devout Christians, and Rowling herself has stated she is a Christian.

Harry Potter books are about good vs evil, love over hate and stresses the importance of friendship, choices, and personal responsibility...sacrifice over personal gain. Considering Jesus himself did "magic" via miracles, how can anyone criticize the "magical" ability of a ficticious character?

I have this same argument with the JF parents of my daughters friends. Is your faith so weak a fairy tale, be it Harry Potter, Snow White, The Hobbit, etc will destroy it?

Then you are in much more trouble than you realize.

4Justice, I find myself wondering why your user info says "Just looking for Justice in this society. Peace on Earth. Peace in our time and Good Will towards ALL men" but I'm not getting a feeling of good will toward Jewish people from your blog. I'm not jewish, but I think I comprehend their offense to what they perceive as evil being released on their holy day. Remember when Texas had the "blue law" and certain items couldn't be sold on Sunday? Same basic (very basic) reasoning, but not, IMO, lawsuit worthy.

Wonderful-World - Good thinking.
Yes, unless we stood firm, those blue laws would return and spread with impunity.

I fail to see any Justice when a religious organization tries to force their own beliefs by using the law selfishly on Society and try to dominate and dictate the everyday life of the community.

Thats what these Zealots are trying to do.
There are many faiths and some who call themselves "Free thinkers" who we might tag as being Atheist.
Don't you think they have the right to follow their own belief, be it another deity or not??
That's freedom of Religion - To follow the faith you believe in without let nor hindrance.

Although I am saddened that the Supreme Court would recognize "Voodooism" as a religion and legalize the torture and sacrifice of animals if its in the name of religion.

The Church in Europe generated the "God Fear" and death to anyone who refused their doctrine even the Monarchy were afraid of the Church.
Religious groups fled to Holland and then came here for freedom.

Religious separatists keep the wealth between themselves, and its not good for any economy if any one group ties up wealth amongst itself.

We've fought war after war for this very reason and its time to stop it in its path.
We send billions in aid to other countries only for some to be funneled back to be used to buy up land and real estate to strengthen their own religious doctrines.
We are defending religious wars in Iraq.
Freedom from Religious Doctrine is why our Fonding Fathers made Separation of Church and State.
Keep to that doctrine, then it ca
