My grandfather, father, mother, and all of my siblings are police officers... BLEEP. I'm married to a police officer... And double BLEEP, I AM A POLICE OFFICER... (can we curse on this forum?)

It saddens me (and sometimes humors me) to read the responses about the police shooting and now the police beating. I buss my a** out here 6 days a week to protect and serve YOU! I know we signed up to put our lives on the line, but what we didn't sign up for was to be verbally assualted by the civilians that we "protect and serve".

I'm sure all of you have called 911... You know, when your child dashed in front of a moving car and was hit (when you were not paying attention). You know, when you were involved in a domestic dispute... and you wanted... no NEEDED... *US* for assistance. You weren't complaining on how horrible the police department was then. Were you?

As a police officer AND A CIVILIAN I do believe the force used in the beating was a tad bit obsessive. I do also believe (forgive me for having an opinion) that these suspects probably did need the s*** beat out of them. Not to the point of unconsciousness, but a d*** good one! I'm sure the family of the PEOPLE THAT THEY SHOT believed they deserved worse than the beat down of a lifetime.

And for the people who believe it's a shame how the city gets "locked down" when a police officer is killed... I agree with that too. It's really unfortunate that task forces are assembled within minutes and dispatched to find the killer of a fallen police officer. What the public doesn't see is what's behind the scenes. We deal with numerous violent acts a day. We are bombarded (ratio is 11 to 1) with suspects who we're already looking for and that doesn't include the numerous new (and repeat) offenders that are added to the list DAILY! I can honestly say that part of the problem is NEIGHBORHOOD PARTICIPATION AND SUPPORT. Ah, yes it sometimes boils back to the community that is so unwilling to help, but want to beat us down because we don't catch the offenders in enough time (or at all for that matter).

I say this to say WE CAN'T DO IT WITHOUT YOU, THE PUBLIC! STAND UP FOR WHAT'S RIGHT. If you see something and you are afraid to come forth with information... Drop an anonymous letter to the police station in your area. We have two hotlines set up for anonymity. 215 685 1137 or 215 683 9268. Please use them!

Don't complain if you aren't willing to make a change. Now please excuse me while I prepare myself mentally, physically, and emotionally for three funerals in the coming days (Sgt. Steven Liczbinski- 24th District, Officer George Bobe- 19th District, and Officer Terrance Young- 14th District). Oh, and I also have to prepare not only to put my life on the line, but deal with the public's opinion.

This is too good. I'm looking at my post again to see exactly where I mentioned anyone in particular in regards to spelling.

First THANK YOU 22d-ppd and thank you to your spouse, and your grandfather, father, mother, and all of your siblings from a citizen who appreciated all that you do to keep everyone who lives in or goes to Philadelphia. I have two very good friends who both of their husbands are police officers, and I know that everyone does not say thank you enough to those that protect and serve

Next the PRESS only takes a small snippet of any of these "beatings", if they can't report the entire situation which led up to it, they should not show any of it. As they do not show when the criminal tried to run over citizens or the police, or when there is a stand off and the criminal held a gun to someone's head.
So to all the police, you need to do, and use what ever force is necessary to keep yourself and all of us safe.

Again, THANK YOU!

I do not judge all officers because of bad judgement by others. I work with officers. But you really have to understand that whatever happens to one of your fallen officers, does not give police the right to beat people as if they were the one that killed a cop. I don't believe at all that police cares one bit about who is shot out there as long as it is not one of them. So was they really beating those guys for, the victims (who they don't know) or Officer Liczbinski? All your fellow officers did was make the life of these guys a little cozier.

I dont know about anyone else but I am disgusted at the way that the media is choosing to cover the arrest of the criminals who were fresh from a shooting and still armed. I have posted my own blog in response. I wish that we could find good factual reporting out there. I thought that it was Fox ..after the past week I feel that I wrong, good fair reporting does not exist. Everyone is looking for a story to sell. God Bless you PPD. You are doing a good job, and I do love this city. I just hate the way this situation is being handled.

Philly Blue... thank you so much... I agree. The media really hyped this story up way more WITHOUT THE FACTS! That's alright. There is always a story to sell!

Yes Philly Blue, It's the media that glorifies all that is bad, because really now, if it was good, it would be boring huh? I do believe that the media, FOX29 being one of the best, wreak havoc on this city by only showing the parts of a story that would add fuel to the fire. Of course they're not going to point out about the gun that was thrown from the car while being chased... because most of the people would not be so infuriated. True, I wouldn't want my child to be beat up like that, but then again my child goes to school, has a part time job and has morals and respect, which I always instilled on them. Respect your elders, teachers &...respect the Police. Sometimes you just have to keep your mouth shut no matter how hard it is because you just won't win and it will make the situation worse....AMEN!
ps THANK YOU PPD FOR PROTECTING MY FRIENDS, NEIGHBORS & FAMILY AND MAY ST. MICHAEL PROTECT YOU ALWAYS!!!
