WARNING!  This topic is slightly polarizing.  Proceed at your own risk.

Has anyone heard about this?  The guy made ridiculous, hateful comments, was given the chance to back off, but then only dug the hole deeper.  What's that all about?  What is with people doing things lately and thinking there will be no repercussions?

John Edwards hires hate-mongering bloggers, refuses to discuss the hire when challenged and then acts surprised when it blows up in his face?

What about all the people in St. Louis that Elliot interviews?  Especially that Pagedale mayor!  She couldn't have given two poops less about the situtation!

For crap's sake!

I heard on today's news that he apologized for his comments

yeah grady, he apologized 3 hours after he said it, and in, (my opinion), hopes that he could salvage any relationship that he had with the NBA. Mr. Stern, who I rarely agree with, stepped in quickly and dismissed Tim Farwaway from all of his league obligations. I applaud him for acting so quickly. That being said the NBA's realationship with the WNBA has a little more than a lot to do with his decision. Bottom line, who was stupid for saying what he said, but the gay community at least has one less face-less enemy.
I hate to use the word ignorant, but his comments were just that.

mrmgrady... he was given the chance to back off his comments during the show and he only grew more vitriolic. Then the story gets linked on Drudge and on espn.com and THEN he apologizes?

Next thing you know, he'll be entering rehab.

INSERT ROLLEYES HERE

People have a right to their opinion, but when you make such hateful blanket statements against an entire group... it's just plain stupid.

Smalltown... glad you liked them. Need anything at all, just give me a holler!

14dabucs, what's your take on stern's "firing" if you will, of hardaway? i understand his position, but what was his reasoning ..

Stern absolutely did the right thing. Hardaway is supposed to be out there in the public eye as a representative of the NBA. He clearly failed in that regard, bringing a heap of negative publicity onto the league.

Like I said earlier, he was given an out by Lebetard. He refused it and only became MORE forceful with his opinion. It's fine to disagree with a lifestyle. It's fine to have an opinion, but to make sweeping generalizations about an entire group like that... it's actually ironic to hear words like that coming from a member of a minority that has heard comments like that directed at it throughout history. Just weird and dumb.
